Nice project you have going on there. My Brother in law had a mint 88 Cougar XR-7 and built a 302 into a 306 with the same cam, trickflow heads, trickflow intake, but used Ford fuel injection and MSD ignition. He also used full length headers with a X pipe and 3.73 gears, on the dyno he put down 355 rwhp which translates to a little over 400hp at the crank.
At the track his race weight was a little over 4k lbs and his best E/T was a 13.6@103mph.

With the Carb and the right jets, you may pull off the same numbers or even better

        Good Luck

wow, thats kool...I wonder if I would get those hp #s...but I dont think I'll reach that high...but...we shall see.
as soon as the motor is broken in, I'll get it on the dyno for sure.

You ever gonna go with lower gears like 3.73s or even 4.10s with a locker rear diff? Also I gotta ask(even though i'm sure I have, i've forgotten): what exhaust are you gonna run? Are those headers you're running longtubes or mid-lengths?

Sorry about all these questions, but I got one more. What are you doing with the old motor, gonna sell it, scrap it, or use it in something else?

I guess we'll have to let the dyno tell the tale.

well, I called my uncle last nite and he was putting the motor in the car as I called him.
I told him I'd give him another call on friday to see where we're at.
