Can you guys tell me anything about my Grand Marquis that I do not know?

I know it has an aod, a 5.0L and 2.73 rear gears...bout it.

I think if someone had a code book you could break all of that down much like you can with GM's and their RPO stickers. I'm familiar with GM RPO's but Fords are still relatively new to me.

Alright guys. She handled to drive to school like a champ. 22 mpg mixed city and highway. Cruise set at 7-. I think part of the downshifts were caused by the combination of the amazing 2.73 rear gears and cruise having a 3-5 mph range.

Bumper zits?? Didn't think they used salt in Kansas. How the hell are you getting 22mpg with mixed driving and even when I do only interstate I get 21 with my Townie?? I think I need to drop a new map sensor in it maybe. Never checked the O2 sensors either.

No we have salt. Not as much as up east, but yeah there is salt usage.

Mostly because I drive like a granny. I watch the tach needle pretty religiously. My linc would do 28-30 highway all day long and about 25 mixed.

Cancer pellets.. Yeah I'm not VCV but I'm not too gentle with my cars. Bricks in the wind is what these are anyway. Oh well.

No use getting in to a hurry with it, it isn't going anywhere fast.

When it gets some power upgrades, then that would be different.

LOL, and I still get up to 17MPG city and 21MPG on the open country roads at 55-60MPH. My '89 pulled 25MPG a couple times running accross the U.P.
I'll have to borrow my dad's timing light again and see what you're running at, if you're off a bit maybe we can squeeze one more MPG out of your TC.

I also just did a tune up on it. Might need to clean some of the parts though. What parts on the intake side do these cars have? Like an IAC?

Oh.. See I always run around 79MPH whenever I can. I bet at 55-60 she does 24 25. I heard these engines pick up a smidge of power from a few degrees and that would be cool if we could futz with that before Ash and I road trip the thing on the 29th.. I ripped that HO manifold off this weekend too. Going to sand blast it today hopefully and slam it on by the middle of next week. Fingers crossed.

They do have an IAC right there on the throttle body, on the side closest to the firewall. Opposite of that there's the EGR valve. They've also got an IAT sensor toward on the lower intake close to the distributor by the temperature gauge's sending unit. Map sensor for my 88 is on the passenger side firewall. On my '85 it was on the passengerside wheel well so yours could be there too. I've replaced every one of those sensors except the Map. Car runs great and the only reason I mention the MPG's is that I feel the thing should run in league where Ashley's does. Her MPG has tanked though and oil consumption has gone up, thinking it's the PCV valve but can't find a clear picture of it and I know they're not where people think they are and are different looking..

Well thats your MPG problem Derek lolol.

The most I could/wanted to do was 70, the majority of the trip was 55-60. May have been closer to 21 as I was just judging by when the pump shut off at the filler neck.

That's what I have been averaging too with my '91. Going to/from work.
