Replaced coolant bypass hoses. Have oil and tune up parts ready to go in. No pictures for this as it was pretty lame.

Any project completed it a good one in my book. I haven't gotten anything done in months except for killing my battery by leaving the headlights on.

        For an execution well done.

Killgore, any progress with the transmission issue? If the TV cable does indeed need to be adjusted here's a video demonstrating stuff in sly's link:

This is how I adjusted my TV cable. Been driving it a year and a half since adjustment with no issues. With just a smidge of pressure on throttle (old people) it will shift into OD @ 40mph, between 45&52 at regular 'I want to get there today' acceleration rates.

If your cable checks out it could be that there's an issue with the governor in the trans. I'm no trans guy by any means but it's my understanding (or lack thereof) that the transmissions shift points are dictated by those two things.

I haven't went and looked at it because concrete is cold in the winter. I have a friend with a heated garage so when I get ready for it I'll have to call in a favor.

Not sure if it's an actual issue or just the torque converter unlocking. Got to get a tach hooked up to tell what's up

The Ford AOD doesn't have a locking torque converter. To adjust the TV cable you don't need to freeze your buns on the concrete, can all be done under the hood. That is of course so long as nothing is messed up at the transmission.

Alright. Well got my tuneup done. Some engineers and I will have a conversation about the ac routing and the plugs. Anyways, successful. Runs much stronger. Had the original 1986 plug wires on it. Will be posting pics of the plugs and of the speghetti monster of wires a bit later

If you changed the wires did you follow the exact routing crossing over the wires that need to be crossed over? Some folks miss that.

Little lost what you're talking about. But yes the firing order is correct.

There is a bit more than the firing order. Certain wires need to be crossed when you route them. If two plugs on the same physical side of the motor fire in sequence, those wires need to be crossed when they are run from the distributor cap. This cuts down on cross fires, induction between parallel wires.

Oh so 2-4 need to be crossed and 7-8. Any particular place or just that they need to be crossed?

I don't know if a particular place is required. I just cross them near where the wires bend around the side of the block.

Today was oil change day. Went smooth except for the filter. It was a pain.

Swapped plug wires around. Found out my coil wire was a bit loose and a wire fell off. Had a wicked miss. Silly me.

Hey guys...where is the negative side of the coil if someone wanted to hypothetically install a tachometer on his bone stock Grand Marquis?

should be the one that's not red. I think it's green, but can't remember. If I remember when I get off work, I'll pop my hood and look.
