    Here we go. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/TCI-376715/

Slightly annoying that the Holley-specific part is the same price as the one for edelbrock carbs, despite having half the number of pieces..

Good to know about though. Thanks.

waiting for install: 3.27's, Poly bushings, boxed rear arms, 2500 stall converter, ported e7's, etc

Half the number of pieces? You mean it has a different selection of studs and junk? Because the critical part is one piece and it does the same thing.

BTW, the Summit brand thingy is $10 or $15 cheaper. http://www.grandmarq.net/vb/showpost...2&postcount=19 Nathan was bothered by it not saying AOD under applications, but I notice that the TCI kit doesn't list transmission models in the first place, and the Edelbrock version is specifically listed as being for either AOD or 700R4 cars.

I've heard elsewhere that, in terms of response to input at the carb end of the cable, GM ripped off Ford or vice versa for those two trannies. The geometry needed is virtually identical.

I still recall from time to time having once read an article in Car Craft about a progressive TV linkage for 700R4/LT1 cars (IIRC). Looked dashed nifty, but I don't think I've ever heard anything else about it.

Sorry to hear John. Odd...this time of year people are hiring not firing.

              Michael.

Incidentally I bought the Summit corrector for the Holley carb, and even though their website doesn't say it, the package does indeed say 700R4/ AOD.

Glad I saved myself the few bucks.

Entertaining factoid. Now to e-mail them and ask that they specifically list it as such on their website, and also that it show up in the BLASTED SEARCH FUNCTION .....

Mention of either the same or something simlar: http://www.superchevy.com/technical/.../photo_11.html

Note that by "progressive", I mean that it has a ramp arrangement to change the rate at which the TV cable is pulled with respect to the throttle opening - IOW, varying the distance from the throttle centerline at which the cable is pulled, kind of like if one were to go from the normal Holley or Carter TV attachment to the attachment with a TV corrector added and back again as the cable is moving. Personally, I have some whines about the linearity of the TV response either with or without a normal TV corrector, and I suspect this type of ramp setup, while comparatively complicated, might make transmission response a bit more driver-friendly.

EDIT: PDF of the CC article: http://www.bowtieoverdrives.com/eprints/cc_eprint.pdf

The good: Bowtieoverdrives.com offers kits for any number of different intake configurations, including Holley, Carter, and Rochester http://www.bowtieoverdrives.com/cata...SUBCAT&CATID=W

The ugly: I'm only seeing this nifty rampy-bracket as part of their $130+ kits that include a Chevy-specific TV cable, fancy mounting bracket, etc.

Interesting stuff. This may get rid of the tendency I've observed to either have low-throttle shifts feel "right", or full throttle shifts feel "right".

Maybe if one were to call this company up and ask VERYYY nicely and explain VERY carefully that you were trying to buy for a ford application, they might let you purchase just the parts needed for our application. I doubt a company like that is so big that doing it would get tied up in red tape.

Yeah, I'd think one could make this work with just the tilt-a-whirl bracket and nothing else. Maybe skip the Ford bit and say it's replacement parts? No, that might not work either, because they'd probably ask for copies of actual purchase invoices like Crane Cams did when I asked them to swap out the incorrect keepers they'd stuck in my cam kit.

Still, though, sounds like you're thinking about the same way I am about typical AOD shift "feel".

A few ebay goodies I'm REALLY pumped about. One just arrived in the mail, an NOS driver's side mirror. Not only is it almost literally perfect, but my current mirror is broken in nearly every conveivable way but the glass being cracked. I paid something like 50 bucks shipped.

The other one may strike a few people as overpayment, but trust me when I say this stuff is increasingly onobtanium.

This is from a mid-80s Mustang with a 4 barrel Holley carb. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...#ht_1969wt_921

This is from a mid-80s Mustang with a 4 barrel Holley carb.

Here is what a mint/original (350 dollar!) one looks like:

I will be getting a decal made identical to the one on the mint aircleaner but, of course, saying 5.8. Then I will try and fab up a factory-looking system of tubing leading to somewhere that it can suck cold air from. I may even go as far as having it suck from a hole in the inner fenders, but I'll figure it out when it arrives.

The goal is to approximate what it WOULD have looked like if there was 4-barrel option for our cars. It will look as factory as possible, and with the weirdness of the car's optioning and history in general, I should be able to pass it off as stock to the majority of the roadside inspectors/carshow fender leaners/gas station experts. And hey, if someone knows enough to call me on it, it'll still be a neat bit of "what if" engineering.

I wouldn't normally blow so much money on something like that, but I needed something stock-appearing that would fit on a holley, since the original air cleaners are supposedly just off enough to not sit properly. My original one has a few issues anyway.

I'm a bit worried about the fitment of the passenger side snorkel, but if it all doesn't fit I can always slap on a correct decal (20 bucks shipped), touch up the paint, and sell it for a profit.

Very nice John. That should look nice. Nothing is overpriced if you are happy with what you got. This is how I justify a lot of things I purchase.

I like the air cleaners, but they are a little large for my taste.

One of these days I'll pull out the high beams and do a Thunderbolt esque cold air intake on something. Maybe the white car...
