Got so off track forgot to update. While I was swapping the brake pedal assemblies for the ABS modded box assembly, I also fixed the 'You left your lights on dumbass!' warning! The headlight switch apparently lost it's ground... I discovered this by holding my hand on the headlight switch knob, and then touching something metal that was a ground. I think it was the shifter lever, it started dinging. Go figure...

I wonder if my '83 at one point in time had ANY kind of buzzer or dinger.

It still has it, it's just REALLY REALLY QUIET.

On an update side, I managed to get my hazzard lights separated from the brake lights. So now my hazzards flash even if I step on the brakes! Yay! Check out the 'Would Somebody Be So Kind' thread to see how.

I really have a hard-on for Ford's 'NBC' chimer that they use on '09 Mustangs. I wonder where it would be, and if the part can be ordered by a dealer and/or compatible with the Merc's wiring.

Congrats on the hazard mod. My next trick will be getting the hazards to work, period. Then I'll likely consider copying it. :P

Buzzer/dinger is located tight up against the bottom of the radio.

Yeppers, like someone else said they don't use salt. The only real snow is up in the mountains anyway, I live in Colorado Springs which is at the base of the mountains. They city doesn't get jack for snowfall in any given year and most of the side streets never get plowed. Hell, South Dakota only recently started using salt, most of their junkyard vehicles are suprisingly clean too. You can pull a bone stock exhaust off an aero and even reuse the stock exhaust clamps. I pulled a fuel line last year off a Town Car and put it on my Crown Vic, stuff you'd never dream of doing in the snowbelt. Nuts, bolts, anything at all that you want is totally usable on these cars even the boxes.

Salt is the great evil. There are plenty of rusty cars along the ocean side of the east coast too, its the salt air.

Don't know about the '09 it's probably part of some big box. Probably part of the LCM behind the dash.

As for the hazard mod, you can't do it with the '83, unless you add a 3rd brake light. Or you'll probably get rear ended.

Well I'll be heading to my local Ford parts desk for sure next week, if anybody wants to upgrade their chime.

I might be crazy though, everyone else I've talked to hates this chime.

Gotta find you one of those 80s VW 3 chime dingers, or maybe an 80s Nissan two-tone chime. Those are god awful annoying but if you're into door dingers and such its right up your alley. Mine used to be in the trunk somewhere. One of the door switches shit out in a rain storm and I had to listen to it chime for like an hour one night while driving somewhere. I ripped it out and never put it back in.
