Possible, but I think it had to do more with the housing flexing.

With 300HP? I wouldn't think so, its not like it was using Nitrous or a turbo or something right? The amount of torque that motor would make, especially through the AOD, shouldn't have been enough to break the rear, especially given how reliable they are with the pretty mild upgrades (axles, carrier, girdle) on high HP/TQ Mustangs..............

It's a 4000 lb wagon that pulls the front wheel on launches. Under 2.0 sec 60's

Rear had no mods except for 4.10's and traction lock. Not sure excatly what the cause was, just that it DID blow up...Still uses 28 spline axles, has more power and is quicker now, and just has a girdle on it and it hasn't had any issues.

Nice! Sounds like it works well.

Any way to tell what model four speed is in an 85' 300ci F-series? Looks like a 2wd model.

I been looking and can't find a straight answer: Borg Warner T18, Tremec RUG/RTS, or SROD

Did some more digging about the the truck transmissions since there is always an older F150 for sale on the cheap. Seems like anything post 87/88 will be a good model, anything before that is a four speed manual and running 3k rpm on the highway just doesn't make much sense. And first is a granny gear for all the four speeds.

The later model five speeds are the ones to look at:

I am actually going to buy a Tremec TKO with my tax return. The F150 clutch setup with the hydralic is a good setup. I will have to see if the firewall has enough space to mount the F150 master cylinder.

                  Stay tuned.
WHAT.....Tom you've been saying that since before I was born!...well at least born on GMN. hehe.

I have a t-5 sitting at my parent's place now. I'd like to go through and rebuild it soon, but I need money and time.

That granny gear will be a great way to melt tires or just blow the rear axle out...

                      Got some more stuff:

                      And Truck vs. SuperCoupe

ALso you can convert the trucks M5R2 if you have a spare MN12's M5R2 laying around.. like others said, the shifter locations are different.. but they are swapable.. But the Trucks have BRass Sychros (Blockers) verse the mn12's Fiber so shifting won't be as smooth (thou people say the Mn12s doesn't shift smooth as-is.. )
