Don't ignore the need for low end torque. These cars are heavy, and need lots of low end for a decent amount of grunt off the line.

Agreed. I was thinking of doing an E-Cam but I think it would take away much of the low end torque these cars need.

Ho or explorer cam works great. less than 500 lift and a small duration is what you want. Look for a cam that makes power from idle-5K.

I'm thinking a street/strip cam. I'll get a cam that makes decent low end torque, but I do what some high end power, to improve my 1/4 mile time.

the ford racing E303 says it improves Low and Mid-range Torque...
but the HO cam with 1.7 Roller Rockers would be great.

My car is rarely going to hit the drags, or even race. Just enough umph to hang with 4-banger imports at the occasional light is good with me.
