Transmission hump, how much room is there?

My 2009 CVPI has carpet, but no center console. If I want to mount something directly under the dash where the hump changes from rounded to square, do I have to worry too much about what's underneath? I haven't done too much exploring on the car, yet (waiting for better weather). What kind of clearance is there if I want to bolt something to that flat surface?

I would get under the car or better yet, if you have access to a lift, take a GOOD look before drilling anything.

the square thing is a computer. Drill with care. I think it may be the srs unit but could be something else.

Thanks for the info. I'll definitely be careful when the time comes. I've been wanting to go out and check, but I guess I'd rather stay inside a warm house and dream of warm Spring days when I plan to do all kinds of cool things to the Crown Vic. How much longer until Spring?
