Well, I'm not sure about the "spitting snake" sound (my mind is oatmeal today lol) but as for the revving, your throttle cable is more than likely sticking.

Where is the throttle cable? I'm retarded and haven't figured out where half the things in the engine bay are.

I should send you a repair book. I have one that covers 1975-1987 CV's and Marqs and stuff. I don't need it, since I don't have either of those cars lol

You might be able to spray some lube into the cable housing, but more than likely it probably needs to be replaced. With the engine off try pushing the accelerator all the way to the floor with your hand. It should come back up by itself. If it comes back up slowly or you have to pull it back up with your hand, it's no good.

I've used WD-40 in the past, some silicone spray lube might work too

My book i got is a Haynes Repair Manul 1975 - 87 And it's got some sorta good stuff in it. but mostly just basic's. It has nothing on CFI. Exsept that it should be taken to a pro........ No telling how much money i have saved so far not taken my car to any one.

Anyone got pics so I can see where the throttle cable is?

There, the cable coupler I'm holding in the second pic has the trottle cable in it. If you trace the most-left of these cables (the one most towards you in the first pic) you'll see it going to the cruise control servo (big cylindrical thing on the fender), the one right next to it (with the spring around it) is the throttle cable (goes to gas pedal), and the last one on the other side of the pivot is the tranny kickdown one (aka TV cable). A random hint here: on that last one check if it has a brass bushing where it goes into the throttle body plate, or it attaches through a nylon grommet - you want the brass part.

That's the cable coupler I'm holding in the second pic - push it against the spring you see (or don't see from dirt and shit :P) and it'll revv up, just don't push it too strong as if you overrevv you may blow a heater hose.

the "spitting snake" might be an electrical short. Make sure the battery cable connections are clean and tight at the other ends too
