leak is fixed - brake light still on??

Am I supposed to open a bleeder in the front to re-set the proportioning valve or something????
Damn its stank to fix her all up and still have this light shining in my FACE!!!!!

the switch in the prob valve for the idiot light is probably stuck.......the light is on in toms tudor vic also.......i'll letu mangs fight over the nos prop valve i have at my parents house

good news!!
we bled the fronts today and the light went out.
At first it just flickered and would come back on, but after we went from one side to the other twice it stayed off :banana:

the pedal was very firm, better than ever. i forgot to mention that the leak was in the rear brakes.

Must have gotten some gunk in the prop valve that was flushed with the bleeding maybe?

These cars really don't stop all that bad when the brakes are done properly. 98+ upgrade with rear discs is still nice tho.

I drove Tom's car over the weekend and it actually stops better than mine. Must check those rear brakes and make sure I don't have any air in the line. It did pop when the trans was installed and I don't think I ever got around to bleeding them out.

GMGT doesnt have big brakes, and I always thoguht that car stopped well...

And, i've never adjusted them, or replaced em...

let me add that a few months after this (wheel cylinders jpb) a rear line blew and again the light came on and wouldnt go off.
Likewise again it took some enthusiastic front bleeding to get the light out after fixing the line.

Hm, my light came on during the Dream Cruise in August, I just unplugged it cause there was no actual leak or anything else in the lines and the brakes work just fine. Since then I have replaced all the fluid in the system, and bled both at front and rear wheel - maybe I should hook the thing up to see if the light is gone...

Theoretically, once the leak is fixed, pushing the brake pedal HARD should reset the light, as the balanced pressure forces the little piston inside the valve back to its centered "at rest" position.

Or, some "enthusiastic front bleeding" to pop it back, hopefully not overshooting and requiring some "enthusiastic rear bleeding" to pop it half-way back to where it used to was.
