Code 63 TPS KOEO and CM

On the way to work I get some flashes with some hesitation. Ran the codes and got 63 KOEO and CM codes. It was working fine. No problems what so ever on a 600 mile road trip. Wonder why this thing keeps messing up? I guess I'll try to dial it in again with the meter.

    Just did some tests...
    Signal return (blk) = 1.5ohm
    Reference (orange) = 5.03v
    Signal wire = 1.03

Seems like all test good or within range. Could it still be a bad TPS?

TPS is a pot and needs to be swept end to end and check for dead spots. Best to use a meter that has a needle so you can see it twitch when it finds dead spots. I need to check the one in my beater as well. But the car hasn't acted up enough for me to care.

Could also be flaky connection at the harness. Might need to give the female connectors a pinch.

I bumped it up to 1.13 volts. Same deal, car ran like shit. High idle, weird throttle response, flashing engine light.

I figured the new motorcraft tps I put on for preventative maintenance was junk. I cleared the codes, put the old one back on and the car is running great so far.

        Lesson: ain't broke, dont fix!

That's disappointing, I just ordered a new Motorcraft TPS for The Scab (since I stole the TPS to replace the bad one on The Ice Car). Hopefully I don't have any issues with my new one.

This stuff. I used to put so much value in "new" parts only to be proven wrong with personal experience which I've only started listening to within the past three years or so. Why I just scavenge junkyards for those types of parts if possible. Experience has show me the "new" parts just don't hold up as well as the factory stuff.

Vic, I've got one or two spare TPS sensors if you need one. I'll probably end up with more by the end of the summer since I'm a hoarder.

LOL, I'll keep that in mind. The new TPS arrived last week, I won't be visiting The Scab for a while to put the new one on but if there is a problem at least I won't need to fix it right away.
