High idle in park and neutral

I just drove the '85 for the first time in about a week and noticed that it's idling very strangely when she warms up. In park and neutral the motor will race. If I had to guess I'd say probably around 2500 rpm. In drive and reverse she also revs slightly high, but not nearly as bad. (if I take my foot of the gas she'll accelerate on her own to about 15mph) I thought maybe it had a vacuum leak at 1st but agh who knows, CFI cars are weird beasts. Any thoughts?

Make sure the electric choke heater is connected. if its not, it won't drop out of high idle. ALso make sure that area on the side with the hockey puck is clean. Flush it out with carb cleaner if its questionable. If the linkage is gummy, it might stay on the high idle cam. Its all mechanical linkages for that, nothing computer controlled. If the parts don't move or the heater doesn't work, it will just idle high and be stupid. Also, if you have changed the alternator to a different type, the choke heater will need a little bit of re-wiring to work. It powers from the alternator. You can run it from a later alternator, but it has to be connected to it.

Well I tried to unscrew the cover on the choke but everything seems to be pretty rusted on tight. I guess after being on the car for almost 30 years it's not in a big rush to come off. I'll have to try wd-40 or something to free it up
