    Component locater is wrong!

Anyone have an actual picture of the blower motor resistor on my five-O '86 GM with ACC?
All the pictures in my '86 Electrical & Vacuum book are incorrect as to the location of this resistor:-(

    Many thanks!

Its directly behind the passenger side valve cover, slightly toward the center and below the pipes for the heater core if I remember right. Should be the only electrical plug connected to a device sticking out of the firewall in that area. Its accessed from the engine bay side.

As memory serves me correctly, yes. Also while you have it out, make sure that your connector and wiring is in good shape, as that tends to melt down sometimes as well.

Ford parts desk, or Napa, or your prefered auto parts store. Just make sure you know what you need first. Theres a Blower Resistor, know before you go in box electrical. It is geared toward the later boxes with maual hvac, but read it, it'll give you some heads up to make sure you are getting what you need. In otherwords, take out your existing one, and bring it with you to the parts desk.

I think I got mine from Rock Auto... but it's been years since I swapped that out.

Thanks for the heads up...........the resistors are indeed different for the manual and for the ACC....and the pigtail connectors are different.

yep. ATC has a 3 speed resistor, non-ATC is a 4 speed resistor. One extra wire for the 4 speed.
