    Code 84?

I did one of those flashing check engine light deals an found that I have
with engine not running a code

21- ect (engine coolant sensor) sensor out of range
22 -map/baro sensor out of range

drove around for 15 minutes an decided to pull some codes an got

74 - brake light depresses (normal)

84- EGR Vacuum Regulator - Solenoids
    EGR cutoff solenoid - Solenoids
    EGR Vent solenoid - Solenoids

where would these solenoids be located ?

    Thanks

the solenoids are located on the pass side fender. the EGR solenoid will have a green line going to it.

did you check for codes with the engine warmed up? if not, it will indicate a code 21. Make sure the motor is warmed up and try again before replacing the sensor.

Is this a mass air car? If so, the BAP needs to have no vacuum going to it. If its not mass air, the MAP must have vacuum. Its the same sensor, just used for different things depending if there is a mass air sensor there or not. 90 California car could be either.

74 means you didn't tap the brake pedal when it was checking for codes. Ignore that.

84 probably means the solenoid is bad or unplugged. Its located on the fender as mentioned above. Make sure the electrical connection is clean and tight before replacingi t.

90-91 cars have the solenoids mounted on the upper intake.

As Gadget mentioned, make sure the engine was up to normal operating temp and verify its a MAF car.

          Thanks fellas,

The car is a MAF an i let her warm up prior to pulling the first set of codes.

after driving on the freeway I then pulled the codes again an got the second pair.

To confirm, the solonids are on the upper manifold where the plate "302" is at?
