Won't a double spring be overkill?

New link bar lifters are in the neighborhood of $500. Comp makes them, and so does Crane. Maybe some others as well. They allow you to use a regular Ford roller cam.
Other retrofit kits are far cheaper, but require the use of a small base circle cam. Cam choice is very limited, and the cams are expensive. I'd do the lifters instead of the retrofit kits.**2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302: 5.0/ 6 spd/ 3.73s, 20K Cruiser

$260ish for the Comp retrofit cam is pretty cheap compared to buying linkbar lifters new. However, I do know that linkbars are theoretically superior to the factory retainer setup.2012 Mazda5 Touring | Finally working on the LTD again!

The thing with the link bars is, you can use an explorer, or HO cam. They are easy to come by, and cheap. Plus, you can readily interchange cams using the linkbars. Your cam selection is broader.
Also, you don't have to deal with the bullshit of tapping the block, etc.
I'd say with the monetary cost, and the BS cost they are neck and neck, but the linkbars offer greater cam selection.**2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302: 5.0/ 6 spd/ 3.73s, 20K Cruiser

I would not want to put a roller in there, i was just wondering when i took everything apart if it would be worth throwing a different cam in there, but if different lifters (like 1.7 instead of 1.6) would work that'd be even better
I just want a spring that'll do the job and be inexpensive, I'm not looking to build a HP/torque monster haha-Phil
