    The new 5.0. H.O.!!!!

Over the last couple of weeks, I have enjoyed everybody telling me about how I should go to the 5.0. H.O. and why, and a couple of people getting down right nasty about which is better and why I should do the H.O. swap....

    I installed the 5.0. H.O. anyway!!!

The reason I went with the H.O. motor is because the Manager at my old Advance store gave me a major discount... So the engine was the same cost as the regular 5.0. I paid a little more for some of the extra stuff I needed for the conversion... But it came out about the same total cost. I also went with the H.O. because of the bearing issue, as I want this engine to last a long time. Yes, the extra power will be nice, but as I said before, it is not an issue with me... I did all of my hotrodding along time ago... This is a show car first and foremost. Well, the car should be finnally up and running today... ( We had it running, but it would not idle... had to figure out why... Thanks to Scott for all your help....) Anyway...

Only problem with the conversion was figuring out some of the minor conversion issues... like which computer was needed, (we got the 91 Mustang computer, which didn't work, because it would figure out there was no MAS sensor, and shut down...) So Scott helped with that, and we figured out that it would not idle right with the stock injectors... (I was told that it would run alright with the stock injectors) it would shut down at idle... and back fire thru the intake at about half throttle.. other than that, is ran really nice... at about 1/4 throttle! So I bought a set of injectors from Scott... (thanks again!) They are going in today while I am at work... So hopefully everything except the final clean up and detail of the engine compartment will be done as of today.
I will be driving the car back and forth to work for the next 9 days or so to break it in before my trip to Chicago... (73 miles a day round trip) So I should have at least 500 miles on the car.. I will change the oil before I go, and then again after I get back. We also serviced the transmission while it was out of the car... so everything should be good to go!!!

By the way... Thanks for all of the good laughs I was getting! ( I even had Tom going!)
Altho some people were getting a little overboard!

By the way, Tom... Joe said to call him back one day, he was slammed when you called the store... He was glad to hear you were back in the area... even tho you weren't close enough to work at his store...

    Tom!

I heard it through the grapevine, but I kept my mouth shut. Glad to hear all is well. Which ECM did you end up going with? If its not a Mark VII unit, you're gonna lose cruise control.

As a police car, does it even have cruise control?

Nice. But the injectors will clue the knowledgeable in, but who cares? lol

Maybe he will paint the tops of the injectors to disguise them. This man pays attention to the details.

I knew something was up when you went with the 3 row radiator.

Actually, i have been looking for some time for a 3 row radiator... I just happened to stumble on the part number one day at Advance... I was about to have a custom three row made for the car, since it gets up to 100 degrees here some days....

The car does have the cruise control leather steering wheel... but I just been too lazy to get the rest of the stuff... When I get back from Chicago, i will probably get the computer I need, and the rest of the stuff to hook it up... I've just been trying to get it up and running so I can get to the Chicagoland show... I will worry about the small stuff when I get back, and when it cools off some!

And it does have the stock badge on the upper plenum...

Great ruse! I know an otherwise stock HO Vic isn't that quick, but I'm sure it'll be highly satisfactory as a reliability mod.

Awesome!!! You'll be happy with the HO motor. My uncle said the HO powered PIs were the best cars.

Tom, if you don't have the proper ECM to retain your cruise control, then what are you running now? Cause the Stang computer you had initially is for a mass-air car, and not your speed-density, so I assume you got something else in its place now?

...uh, it might be funny if it were an actual joke. For future reference, typically, for a practical joke to actually work, the joke has to be, oh, I don't know....funny, maybe?

Since you clearly have no clue as to how practical jokes work, I'm giving you a brief, kindergarten-level example of how bad this 'joke' was:

Well, we finnally got the car done, and it is running great... My friends shop has been SLAMMED lately... So we finnally got it done yesterday afternoon (Sunday) The 13 lb injectors were the problem, along with two vacume hoses that were cracked... The 19 lb injectors rell The two guys that were helping thought the other one had replaced them, and so when it went back together, two of the main hoses on the bottom of the intake were cracked and leaking... So THAT didn't help! Anyway, it is all straightened out now and runs GREAT! I am taking it easy on the motor to break it in... but I can tell by the way it starts, and just driving it nomally, it is much better than the old engine... All I have to do now is complete the engine detail, and a few more things to the interior, and it is ready for Chicago!

Smoke and rattle.... It has got a 1988 Mustang 5.0. H.O. computer in it.... The only one I could find without waiting a week for it to come in... Autozone was able to get one overnight... They didn't have a listing for a Lincoln Mark VII... Like I said before, I have the cruise control steering wheel, but not the rest of the setup under the hood... When I get back from Chicago... I'll try to get a a Mark VII computer, so I can get the cruise control up and running....
