    DIS-connected O2 Sensors.....

I just (finally!) installed some Flowtech headers on my `88 GMW along with a 'custom' true dual 2 1/4" exhaust. I didn't have time to weld in the bungs for the O2 sensors and just drove it home as-is.....

How will having them disconnected affect the A/F mixture along with any other areas...???

It seemed to run OK but it's hard to tell compared to before because of the new exhaust....

      Thanks for the response.....

Is there any way to get around that for time being before I get a chance to get them installed...???

One more question that's somewhat related, will manually extending the wires from the plug to the sensor change anything...???

I could get them to work as-is but don't want to chance melting something.....

You can extend the wires, it won't hurt anything. If yours aren't fairly new I'd go with the Mark VII parts and call it a day.

            x2

We had a 99 Cobra in the shop a few weeks ago for a custom exhaust system, we extended the O2 sensor wiring with heat shrink style but connectors and heat shrink sleeves (just to be safe).

Make sure to use the same gauge wire.

Last set I did this to, I cut the connectors off an old crap set as close to the sensor as possible, and then cut the plug off the new one as close to the plug as possible. Solder, shrink tube, voila.

                Reviving an old thread here...

I have horrible gas mileage after my engine swap. Although I don't have a check engine light, leads me to beleive i've got 1 or both O2 sensors bad (they were re-used and wires were lengthened to reach from the headers to the oringinal plugs). Question: Above it says sensors from a 1988 Lincoln Mark VII will work for his situation, is that also true if I attempted to plug them in on my 1986 wagon? Advance auto shows the same part number for 1986 and 1988 Mark VII and 1986 Wagons, but I'm pretty sure the plug on my 1986 wagon and the plug on my 1987 wagon were different styles. so... if anybody knows if I can just buy this part number and it'd work on my 1986 wagon without having to lengthen the wire that'd be great! I'm looking at BWD OS110 if it helps.

figured it out thanks to rockauto.com (pictures of both the O2 sensors and the plugs). I need to order 1986 Mark VII O2 sensors as the plugs indeed are different. Rockauto even shows the length on the AC Delco part, 10.75" for both the 1986 and 1988 models, so the 1986 part number should work for me just perfect! giddie up!

If you've got an 86, you need 86 Mark VII LSC sensors. The 86 has a different plug. Same sensor though. If you get a generic sensor, it will be supplied without a plug, just cut your old ones off and splice them together.
