    damage to my '91

I am sooo fuckin pissed!!! Saturday night, we had some killer wind here, and when I opend the door to get out at the store, the wind snatched the door out of my hand, and just about took the door off of my car!!! It broke the spot weld on the upper door hinge, and bent the door hinge. This in turn made the door out of alignment.. So it skinned the paint on the edge of the door.... DAMN WIND!!!!
So today I cut a 2X4 to the right size, put it in the middle of the hinge so I could jam the hinge in the open position, and then pushed on the door to bend the hinge back in place... Have to go over to the body shop tommorow and have them re spot weld the hinge. THEN I have to touch up the paint on the door edge.... And I have a car show on saturday... may not be able to make this one.. I may have to go to the next one the week after.... If it isn't one thing.. it is another!!!!

I know exactly what you mean man. We have this killer wind here, it's been killing my gas mileage to and from work, since it happens to be blowing towards me both ways. Fucking wind. Plus, I know about the door thing, except what happens, is people fling my passenger door open, it hits the stop, and the hinge pulls away from the side of the car. Pisses me off to no end.

    I hate scratched paint!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cuss:

Sorry about your shitty luck man.

So i guess you dont do the drive in reverse the lock em up thing to shut your doors when passengers get out? That really sux about your door i thought the welds and hinges were stronger than that. Good luck with the paint as that can be expensive

              The door continued!!!

The door is lined up, (Thanks to Mr. 2X4!!) I cut a piece to go in the hinge to jamm it.. then pushed on the door to bend it back..To re-align the horizonal adjustment. Then put the 2X4 on my floor jack and jacked the door up a little bit, then let it down, checked the alignment, then jacked it up a little more, then checked it.. etc... To re-align the vertical alignment. Going over to my friends body shop tommorow to weld the spot weld back... (Wire welders are cool!) Then repaint the door jamb, and the edge of the door.. then buff it to get it all to match.... (The part you can see, NOT the door jamb!!! I can see me trying to buff THAT out!!!) I'll try to get pictures... of the before and after..... Since I have a BIG Car show this weekend... It is the one that the Panhandle Cruisers sponsers (My local car club) So I want to be sure and be there.... IF I can get thius Friday off.... don't want to try to go to the show half asleep.... (since it is mids) It would suck to get off work and drive 40 miles to a show, half asleep.... And then spend all day at the show... Tom!

                  Door hinge.. continued....

The door hinge is getting rewelded today... And my body man is re-aliging the door for me while he is doing it... he said it will be like new....
Then all I have to do is touch up the door edge....

Also... Got a new (Well, new to me) Air Compressor.... WOO HOO... It needs a pressure switch, and a handle... but it is a 28 gallon 4.5 horse- power Craftsman.... It was one that got flooded at my friends house during the hurricane, but it is still working like a champ.. needs cleaned up and painted.... no big deal!

So Tom... we will have POWER tools from now on at the house!!! (Not to mention sandblasters, sanders, sprayguns, etc etc etc....) It will be nice to be able to use a air ratchet when I start working on the engine upgrades and restoration under the hood!!! Tom....

                    cars is fixed!!!

IT'S FIXED!!! He welded the door hinge, aligned the door, and even touched up the paint and painted the area of the hinge where he welded it... And it is a good thing... it has rained 6 1/2 inches of rain since this afternoon.... (4:00 PM...)
My car is sitting at my house,, had to have our Squad come get me to go to work... my road is flooded.. didn't want the car to go thru all that water.... I have NEVER seen my road flood! The two houses across the street from my house are flooding... and the idiots that want to go "see whats going on" are driving thru at about 30 miles an hour to get thru the water... So I yelled at one lady going about 40 miles an hour down my street... (The water was going over the top of her hood) So she slammed on the brakes.. and the car died!!! I was about laying on my front porch laughing! And I left her sit in her car too..... Dumbass! Our Fire Chief rolled by her, stopped, asked her if she lived down here.. Of course she didn't... So he called her a wrecker, told her she was stupid for going out sightseeing, and let her sit in her flooded car and wait. Then he turned in my driveway, and picked me up to take me to work....

I'm going out to build an Ark.... lets see... 300 cubics by 100 cubics... Anyone now what a cubic is?????

And I will stock it with 2 blondes, 2 brunnettes, 2 redheads.... ok, scratch that--- 6 blondes............

Well, I got the door lined up... He really put a nice bead weld all the way across the hinge... I would like to see the wind break that! After I put the new doors on, I am going to have him do the same to the other side.
I have two brand new condition doors to go on the car.... (and some brand new hinges) After I get the '84 done, I am going to put the new doors on, and have my body guy repaint the car again... The bottom of the front doors are rusting out.. they aren't bad yet.. Both doors have also been hit and fixed.. the passenger door poorly fixed.. You can see the bondo is starting to crack... this was done before i got the car... the drivers door has a crease type dent, thats why the wide molding off of a newer Crown Vic was put on.. to cover up the dent... i had a show the next weekend... so I had to get it done quick... Some drunk ran into it right after a show where I got one of my first place trophies... I was SOOO PISSED!!!! I got the two doors for free.. and they are like brand new... No dents anywhere, and no rust.... They are off of another Fire Chiefs car that they were getting rid of.. (under hood fire) Tom....
