HO cam and lifters in an 84

Hi, I know you can't put an HO cam in a 84 302 beacuse of having friction surface lifters, but i was wondering if i could put the rollar lifters in to go with the cam out of an HO engine? I have also heard that there are no oil hole's in the lifter bores so i cant use the rollar lifter's, i just want to varify this so i know for sure if i can or cant use that cam...

No, the '84 block can't use the factory roller setup. But you can get aftermarket retrofits. You might want to check your block part number just to be sure it's the original block.

Roller rockers aren't the same as roller lifters. Roller rockers you can do, no problem. Roller lifters have to be the special aftermarket retrofit type. They'll come in pairs with a tie bar to keep them from spinning. You can also just use an aftermarket camshaft with flat tappet lifters and go that route. Probably would cost less and get you the same power as going through the expense of buying the special conversion lifter sets.

Most roller cam/lifter conversions will also require different length pushrods.
