So out of the blue my drivers side window (never had probs. w/ before) just quits in the down position. I get it to work again and me being an idiot decide its fixed so of course when it quits again its in the full down position. Some contact cleaner later and it seems ok. My question is would just one switch on the driver's bank fail or is there a bad connection somewhere? The window works fine when the switch is functioning. I guess if the prob doesnt resurface it was dirty switches. I did hang my cupholder over the switches (not anymore). thx

Window works, window doesnt, window works, etc. Once it seemed like working the power lock actuator "cured" it. Loose connection at motor? Also it only seems to get stuck in the full down position. Annoying.

its probably just worn out... when the brushes wear out any little bulp will make them jostle in.out of place enough to work/not work.
try opening and closing the door a few times next time it gets stuck, then replace that motor!!!, or, if you are junkyard savvy, you can pull brushes out without reomving the motor from the door.

here u go mang it should help...
If the rebiuld shop does more than alternators and starters they should... I tired to go to a place that just did those and he said window motor brushes are way smaller... so if they do small motors it should be gravy.Pete ::::>>> resident LED addict and CFI defector LED bulb replacements

Sometimes the brushes aren't gone, but the commutator is just dirty. Might be more expensive than its worth tho. Found some cheapie motors on eBay, 3 of the 4 were good, one was just a POS that I gutted for parts to rebuild the original motor. Win some, lose some.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

Im pretty sure then w/ all the elec. motor places in LA I can get mine fixed cheap. In Cuba you can get a disposable lighter fixed and refilled, and that spirit (which I LOVE) is alive and well here.Last edited by 91 LTD; 07-12-2006, 02:22 AM.
