    Window Glass & Motor Removal

Since about late January, the front passenger window motor in the wagon has been dead and the window luckily stuck shut. However, I would like to get that window working again since it's nice to be able to roll down all the windows and have really free flowing air in the cabin.

On top of that, since I'm going to be in the door working on that stuff, I figure it's time to get the vent window and matching glass swapped in. The plus to having that vent window is the window felts that go with it are still fresh and pliable. The stuff in the door right now stupidly brittle and missing a few chunks. There's still newspaper filling a missing bit from 2014, but it's not doing much and I can hear wind noise buffeting around it.

    So:
1.) How hard is it getting at the window motors in the doors? I've poked around inside of the door before for the lock actuators, but didn't pay much notice to the window motor.

2.) How hard is it to remove the window from the door? I've done regulators and glass removal on the '97, but I know these are completely different. If there's rivets and drilling required on the glass, I am not afraid.

I just want to knock out this door in one sitting. I have a new motor on order and I have the vent window, replacement glass, and dew wipe strip for that setup, so I won't have to run around and source things.

Three dimples to drill out and then you can access the window motor bolts. I always remove the window motor through the speaker hole...Removing speaker required.

A little fiddly removing the window from the door. I think Ive done it with the window run channels removed for some extra clearance...maybe even the exterior dew wipe...though that aint required.

You will have to drill out rivets to remove the glass if nobody else has been in there. I used nylock nuts and bolts when reinstalling on my car.

Not sure if any holes have been drilled for the motor before. When I get in there, I'll know.

I've got windows out of my Aero before. I know they can be a touch tricky, but nothing I'm worried about. Dew wipe is coming out anyway since the vent window one doesn't run the whole opening since the vent doesn't need a wipe.

I've drilled out rivets on window glass before. My re-installation style is the same as yours. Easy to service later if need be.

Everything sounds straightforwards, so hopefully Thursday will go smoothly.
