    Before I fuck it up and it can't be fixed:-) "86 MGM Tudor

    Ok So for all "youz" with late 80's Tudor MGMs......
    I want to remove the large plastic fill piece that covers the inside rear drivers side window and surrounding area.

    How is this removed without breaking/cracking the plastic?

    It has to come off so that I can finally intestigate where the flood waters come from that pool on the rear passenger footwells, and I mean leave a good half an inch on top of the carpet:-(

    There's a screw under the back seat. You have to take the back seat out first. (the upright part)

      Yes........and then what? That plastic is secured tightly all over and I see no actual screws that hold it to the interior panel.

        I just did this at the yard two weeks ago to a 79 and one side survived...the otherside was a bit brittle. I have removed mine from my car MANY times. All good
        1. Remove metal trim above drivers side door by the headliner. Just grab it and pull down.
        2. Remove same type metal trim from back window and head liner. Again grab it and pull. Work your way from one side to the other. Careful not to bend it.
        3. Unscrew coat hanger hook from said big piece of trim you are attempting to remove.
        4. Remove torx bolt next to drivers side seat that is securing the seatbelt.
        5. Remove the little panel that push clips into the panel below the big one you are trying to remove. *May be one screw near the back seat securing it*
        6. Once that panel is removed look for one screw under the center of the side rear window holding the big piece of trim to a metal bracket. (some have the screw some dont)
        7. Remove screw from door jamb that is securing big panel you are trying to remove.
        8. Slip you hand behind the big piece by the window opening towards the rear and carefully try to POP the hefty plastic clips that are used to secure said panel into the body of the car. I believe there are three of them.
        9. The big panel may get stuck on headliner some.
        10. Pull big panel away from rear and towards center of vehicle.
        11. Do everything with caution.

          Dave this all seems too easy LOL.Question...why does the seat belt need to be removed????

            Because it is routed through the panel. If you want the panel to come out the seatbelt needs to be fished through it.

              Wait a minute.......that less than 12 inch POS that sticks up on the right side of my ass needs to come out?

                Wait......you mean the belt closest to the door itself, not the piece that comes up throgh the seat itself.........ok got it

                  correct. the one near the door opening next to the seat. Remove that bolt and the seat belt can be sneaked through the trim hole.

                    Dave the small panel below the large plastic one.......how to I remove it?.....does one need special interior tools?.....I am afraid of ripping up the cardboard foundation:-(

                      Step 5.

                      One screw near the rear and some push clips near the door.Panel tools may help in prolonging the life of the ancient cardboard panels.
