I don't have an '88 shop manual but in my '91 shop manual the first letter is for the seat type and material, the second letter is the color code. Color code P in '91 is Light Sandalwood. Not sure if this is true for an '88 though it could be.

Wasn't the exterior color of that particular car also some type of "sandalwood"?

Yes exterior is "light sandalwood" code 8R. My 89 wagon is also light sandalwood interior but with leather.

OK, so as long as the color is the same you should be good to go for the swap, you'll end up with exactly what you started off with.

Actually he has custom-reaupholstered seats, quite beautifully done I might add. Unfortunately the car has been torn apart for about a year now, started with rust repair on the front fenders and it snowballed into A-pillars, rocker panels, then the whole right qiarter panel got removed to reinstall a new on cause just repair would be a hack job, and finally rust was found hiding in an area that would be a total bitch to repair in both ease of access and labor time. And the car would still need a paint job after all is said and done - very very expensive project without total guarantee that some part of the rust mosnter won't rear its ugly head again from somewhere...

So the decision was made to find a good-condition southern car and swap all the goodies in it. She's also getting the 4wheel ABS that The Shooting Brake and 86 Vicky are running.

I saw that thing. Looks like a good solid base.

They overheated it until it seized. That's hardcore.

Nice Jay. That wagon looks very nice and eerily similar to the one you are fixing up!

Man those seats are nice too. If you had no plans for them and if the rear seat could somehow work for me I'd wanna buy them from you.

They are just what I am looking for. Heck getting the front seats may even be a smart move as finding ones that look that nice (from the pics) would be difficult. Finding matching rear would be easier. I guess the rear upper portion is the only part that wouldn't fit. so the search is even smaller. hmmm

                              Anyways enough dreaming of....

I hope the rest of this project goes smoothly for you. This looks like a great vehicle to move your good parts into.
