    Aero/Whale Interior Interchange Questions

Was wondering if Aero and Whale seats are interchangeable. If so, are they all interchangeable, or only certain year models?

Also, from what I've seen, front interior door panels on Aeros are prone to cracking, but there must have been some sort of improvement made on the Whale panels, because they don't seem to crack.

I also know that at least early whale GM interior door panels will directly interchange with at least later Aero GM interior door panels. Does anyone know if it is the same case for Crown Vics (i.e., whale and aero interior door panels are interchangeable on CV).

    Thanks for your help.

the interchangeability for the door panels I think has more to do with the seat controls being there and/or the defrost vent for the window being on the door. I know on my 93 the defrost vent is on the door so there's a pass-through from the dash, but on the 2000, there's no pass-through because the vent is on the top of the dash. The seats I do believe are physically a match from 90+ as far as the floor bolt patern, but that's it. The wiring can be different and then the controls are on the doors for many of the whales for power seats. I think fleet and base models got the power driver seat up to 01 or 02 at least with the controls still on the seat. Not sure about later years.

Sly, thanks for the info. So, if I want to put Whale seats into an Aero, can I use the Whale tracks and seats, or do I need to keep the original tracks and change only the seat cushions?

Also, were cloth seats an option on any Whales and Aeros, or did they all have leather? I've seen only leather, but I haven't really looked at a lot of these cars.

Finally, were any Whales or Aero's produced with manual seat tracks, or did they all have electric tracks? Again, I've seen only electric tracks, and never seen a manual. However, I would prefer the manual tracks if there is such a thing.

      Thanks.

I've seen a lot of whales with cloth seats and manual seat tracks.

Depends on the seat. If the controls are on the seat, it can be rewired to work with the aero. If you want lumbar support, much easier to stick with finding same style LX seats. Then it's all plug and play. You can change just the cushions, but you may also need to cut in the controls from the old seat into the new cushions to make things work.

Seat tracks are all the same 92-2011. It's just a matter of figuring out the wiring.

What about dash panels, steering wheels? Other interior parts. After I fix my 99 MGM I wanna start converting it to a 2003+ MGM.
