    radio/temp dash cover

    Dear Panthers,
'I finally got the right hand dash panel walnut veneer covered to match the instrument cluster and there's an idiot light gauge an outside temp gauge and the "too hot for dogs" alarm but I don't want to take a pic because the small center dash cover - that little plate that covers the radio and temp control is original ugly plastic. Mine's an 89 CP. What others fit and does anyone have one?

probably anything from 84 or so that had the full size hole (instead of the knob holes) up to 89 should fit.

Only CP or GM & CV?

All of them. That piece was the only dash part that was universal (no special script) other than the glove box. Just need to match up the base dash color as the "wood grain" doesn't matter as you'll cover that part.

            Dear Panthers,

The Shooting Brake now has a walnut dash with new instruments http://www.newvintageusa.com/images/3725x-02.jpg, a new external temp gauge, warning lights gauge and programmable heat alarm (dog or child safety on hot days).

I moved the switches for fog light, tailgate window wiper, rain tracker and one extra to the little bar between the climate controls and radio.

After four days of fooling with it, your help, umpteen wiring diagrams and enlisting Ratchet (the computer/electronics/mechanical genius down the road), Brandon and I couldn't get the raintracker to work but there's a sheepdog trial in Vermont next week so the SB had to go back together for now. We'll solve the raintracker later.

I'm really pleased with how this turned out.
Makes the old cracked dashpad look awful though. Leather?

The stock is vinyl, but it could be re-covered. Not so sure I'd do leather though, maybe a soft padded vinyl. I just don't care for leather inside a car. It converts itself from dead cow to dead alligator in a couple years and looks generally awful IMO.
