Heh heh heh heh heh heh...

So I was thinking about something.

Would it be possible to wire the ignition system so that when the key is turned on, a digital sound file plays from under the hood? Similarly, when the key is turned off, a different one plays?

If you have the time and/or money, you can do anything.

I guess I was asking how technically feasible it would be.

Sure, if I had $500,000 to blow on my car, I'd make it sing and serve me omlettes in the morning. EVERY! Morning.

That'd be sweet to turn the key and hear the sound effect of a deep lion roar come from under the hood, or something like that. A little too attention grabbing for me, but I would still love to see it done.

the cheap way is to have a small timer circuit set up to pulse on turn on to one sound recorder (pulse goes to play button) and send a pulse to another recorder when the ignition power is removed.

I'd have to research it to figure out how to make the circuit (or find an off-the-shelf kit) but I'm feeling rather lazy right now after re-engineering the lifts in the Lincoln's trunk. Now I know what to do about the geometry and it's a project for another day.

if memory serves correctly they make a circuit already for leaving digital messeges, it wouldnt be too hard to wire a small 10 or 15w amp to it and connect it too a horn or speaker of some sort. then make a switch for when the ignition is turned on and off, i would think it would be something like a basic alarm circuit kinda with relays and such.

Radio shack has an audio module that stores 30 sec of audio that you can record yourself with the incl mic. I used it for a motion-sensing pumpkin with flashing red/white LEDs to scare some kids for Halloween. Soldered in a transistor across the power contacts so the Arduino could trigger the audio module with the lights.

Should be easy enough to wire up some relays and a timer circuit to power the whole deal for a car. Mount it all under the hood for easy access to ignition and power wiring. Make sure to silicone the project box if its a long term deal
