if you make new holes, sure. The Lincoln mirrors have studs in the base that go through holes in the door, and nuts retain it from the back side, along with a load spreader plate to keep the door from bending. The Mercury mirrors have phillips head screws on the top side that mount the mirror. I forget exactly what that screw threads in to, but either way you're doing a little filling and drilling.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

Yep, exactly. A big clip holds that entire backing plate in place (where the harness would run through the door skin) and provides the necessary mounts for the mirror.~David~

They use some ridiculous overkill thread locker on the mirror screws. If you don't have a good grab, you'll strip those right out...Comment

another thing to think about, is the mounting plate angle. lincolns have their mirrors mounted on the 45 degree crease, where at the merc/ford ones mount on a more flat spot of the door.
