How to remove the headlight knob on an 86 grand marquis?
How to remove the headlight knob on an 86 grand marquis?
hi i can't figure out how to remove the headlight knob on my car. i want to get behind the front panel to install some gauges but the headlight knob is the only thing keeping the trim on there. how do i remove it???
Reach up behind there, theres a little tiny spring loaded button on the body of the switch itself...
pull the switch out, push that button in, push the switch in, and pull out. It may take a couple times before it works, but this is the method I use...
1983 Grand Marquis 2Dr Sedan "Mercules" Tremec TKO conversion, hydraulic clutch, HURST equipped!
I made a weekend out of mine
But I was also installing other switches under it, and the things they operated.
I wound up un-bolting that end of the dash and pulling back on it like a mofo to get my big hand all the way up in there.
It felt like I was fisting a robot!!!
I just installed my fog light switch today, in the same location where Pete has those three switches. I was able to reach my hand up from the below to get behind there, I checked to see and I was able to reach all the way up to the headlight switch, though my hands are probobly a little less than avarage in size.
Actually now that I think about it - it wasnt getting my hand up there that was the problem, I could reach up and touch the switch fairly easy. It was twisting my hand around to that side in a way that i could push the release button that was the problem, lol its tight around the switch.
I think in 90-91 boxes you just popped off some trim, take out 2 screws and the whole panel the switch attaches to comes out. Lucky bastards!!!
