    WTF happened to my seat?????!!!!

The drivers seat in the Lincoln has been slowly getting bad over the last few years, first some cracks in the leather, then a few tears. I come out yesterday and discover this:

The leather has dried up and become hard. It shrank so bad it ripped out of the seam and shriveled up. I know it wasn't like that when I got out the time before I found this. What the hell happened?

I've spilled liquid on my seats before, and nothing like this happened, so I can't totally believe that it was water or something and then the leather shrank. The material under the leather is slightly stained, but don't know if it's always been like this. I even smelled it to see if something got spilled on it. Just smells like old leather and 25 years of ass ground into it.

    Anyone have a clue?

That's the seat's way of telling you that you need to either lose weight or get a more durable seat.

Good luck finding an upholstery shop that will redo your seat in leather. Everyone that I have found wants to do the seat in vinyl or cloth.

I'd prefer it anyways. As comfy as my pillow tops are in the 89, I'd much rather them be cloth.

The leather just does that. it sucks. The original seats in my Towncar looked like that with the peeled flaps and all that mess. I replaced them with velour seats.

Looks liked u stopped at taco bell for a burrito and had a smoke after.

My blue 90 tc seats are starting to let go. Probably going to sell it because of it. I had it since mid 90s. It sucks. Maybe i can find a newer seat.

i was told to not use petroleum based products on leather or vinyl... it causes issues... Armor All is everybody's favorite, but its petroleum based... find different cleaner and seats or go velour is my opinion... i hate leather in the summer and in winter it sucks from the cold

velour FTW. It blows to clean though. I carry a pair of seat protection towels in the car just in case I have to get into it dirty.
