remove the knee panel (should be some bolts behind the fake wood trim and a couple visible on the bottom) and then it's 4 LARGE nuts to drop the column. Also, unhook and remove the gear shift indicator cable before you let the column down or it will break.

Yep, just like sly said. The 4 nuts are 13mm and you will likely need a deep well socket for the one on the right closest to the firewall. There's also a metal brace under that knee panel that would need to be removed to allow the steering wheel to drop all the way to the seat. IIRC, that brace has one bolt on each side holding it up somewhere around 5/16 or 3/8 socket needed.Vic

Does this need to come out (directly behind the headlight switch?) If so, any suggestions on getting in there?

Finally got the dash down, whether or not it will go back up is a different story. How difficult is it to pull the heater core while I'm in there? I never want to have to take this dash apart again but at the same time I'm about fed up with this project.

with the dash out of the way... there's some nuts on the inside and engine side of the firewall that you'll need to take out to get the plenum (the big black air box) off. once those are removed you can slide the plenum with heater core out and then it's 4 screws on top of the heater core to remove it. You may need to remove other items for clearance, but it should be obvious.

no, just far enough to clear the stuff. for me, that was angled a little from driver corner to passenger seat.

Successfully got the dash back together, only one extra screw lol. Flushed the system before i hooked up the heater core, drained the water, and the petcock broke. Just can't catch a break.
