Did you try pulling the needle off and re- indexing it slightly?

Yes, but I had to reindex it a lot. When I finally got it to read right, the needle wouldn't drop below 20 mph, it stopped there like it was on zero

                Meh, whatever.

                Tis water under the bridge.

Shit happens. Get another one. Beat the old one with a hammer, and throw it away. You'll feel much better.

I'm going to have my dad look at it tonight, see if he can figure anything out, but that is most likely what is going to happen. Might just roll with the 85 for a while until I get another one.

                    Holy shit......

It took 4 beers for my dad and 2 32oz monsters for me to come up with an idea that was so easy that I pretty much hated myself over it.

We go out nd basically do what 1980c10 suggested, only at a lower speed. We get back afer my dad played with it and it was reading 6 mph over when it wasn't moving. So we put the other needle back on, it read exactly, and we put it at zero while the other one was at 6.

The orange needle was too heavy. It was very slight, but it was enough to throw the entire speedometer off. So I took dome of my sister's (don't laugh) florescent orange nail polish and painted the white needle. Threw everything back together, and its reading the way it should. Its about 5 mph too slow, but it got bumped when I was painting it, so that can be fixed tomorrow.

I don't have to buy another speedometer

It's officially back to normal. Back right on where it was supposed to be. I never thought that needle would be so heavy. In order to truly get the look I want, I emailed these guys, asking about a reface, and they can recalibrate so it is for sure back on precisely.

I know on the 90 to 91 Box bodies, the speedo is electric... If you take the needle off, you have to "re zero" the speedo... what you do is put it in the car, hook up the wiring harness, and turn the key on to the start position, and then carefully put the needle on at the "zero" mark.. then shut the key off... the needle should drop down below the zero, where it is basically resting against the side of the case... However, DO NOT put it on resting on the side of the case, as it will not work... it has to have the key on then needle attached at the zero mark... I had to do this when i replaced my speedo... it was going 85 at 35!!!

Be careful swapping needles around in the future guys. drock advised some people once that all needles are not created equal and are balanced so if you have a needle that is a different weight and balance than what is supposed to be there it may not work. I'm not hatin on 'yalls work but I figured I would at least bring this up.

yeah I learned that the hard way....now I need a whole fucking new cluster (although GPS certified to be 2-3 miles too slow, but I'm insanely OCD with that car lol)
