Is this possible? I just bought an 85 mph speedometer from Justin mainly for the 4 backlight setup, but when I looked at it again I noticed the speedometer needle was orange. My current 140 is white. Is there a way to swap needles without some major ghetto fab? I tore my 140 apart before I put it in, but I didn't get that far in depth. As much as I want an 88 140 speedometer, I don't have the coinage right now, plus I like my blue kph lettering lol.

LEAVE IT ALONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are very flimsy and if you bend it even a little bit, you will make the speedometer inaccurate. Get a small paint brush, and paint it with some orange paint. And don't even think about touching the gas gauge needle!

well, I'm ready for all of the "I told you so's". I fucked it up.
I marked where the needle was, popped it on there (its still perfectly straight) hooked everything back up again. Start driving down the road aaannnd nothing. So I take it out of town, get it up to about 15-20 mph and we have movement!
When I marked it, the speedometer motor whatever you want to call it turned in the direction basically going in reverse, without me knowing. I popped the needle on and it held it there. The only reason I know that's problem is because the odometer is working flawlessly. So that leaves me with 2 options.
Dick around with it tomorrow until I can get back to where its supposed to.
or throw the 85 back in and just find a 140 that comes with an Orange Needle already.
I'm going to try option 1, but somthing tells me It won't be the same. I should have listened to you guys. I guess I just had to learn the hard way....Parts Car (Scrapped ) - Vicky - 1987 LTD Crown Victoria: 17x8 Gunmetal Gray Coys C-5 wheels, 235/55-17 Falken Ziex ZE-502 tires. 79 LTD Grille, Taillights, and Turn Signals, Blue LED Dash Lights, PI Rear Sway Bar, 140 MPH Speedometer, Dual Exhaust w/ Mustang Headers.

Not to hijack, but the needle color changed in 88? I saw one on here that was super orange and reacted excellently with blue LEDs, but my 85 is more whitish than orange. Elaborate?sigpic

87 down had white needles and blue KPH lettering. 88-89 had orange needles and white KPH lettering. The needle looks awesome with the blue LEDs, I just have to make it work....Parts Car (Scrapped ) - Vicky - 1987 LTD Crown Victoria: 17x8 Gunmetal Gray Coys C-5 wheels, 235/55-17 Falken Ziex ZE-502 tires. 79 LTD Grille, Taillights, and Turn Signals, Blue LED Dash Lights, PI Rear Sway Bar, 140 MPH Speedometer, Dual Exhaust w/ Mustang Headers.
