i got a new mirror for my car as mine was stained. The new mirror came out of an 1998 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer. i have the metal clip that glues to the windshield. I am wondering how i can get my old metal clip off without breaking my window. Anything to loosen it up with.

i have but the clip is different and the mirror shakes as i drive the car its not sturdy as the clip is different causing play in the mirror.

dont try removing the metal tab on the glass.....if the glue is secure the windshield will break

Nail polish remover and a cotton ball. Acetone in the nail polish remover will eat the adhesive. Saturate the cotton ball with the nail polish remover. Put some newspaper around the area, since it might damage painted surfaces. Hold the cotton ball around the metal tab. And squeeze the cotton ball so it releases the remover. You may need to do this a couple of times or so. This should loosen the tab and you'll be able to remove it by hand. That's what I did. Oh, and another thing. If you have any cuts on your hand, I'd wear gloves because that shit stings if you do.
