Monday, I went to the local upholstery shop and had them replace the headliner, the two "sail" panels, and the windshield sun visors... The headliner was finnally starting to fall down, after like a dummy I made the comment that it was holding up really well... (It was the original one!) Another thing was the crease that goes across the car from side to side just in front of the rear window was also starting to fail... causing a bow in the headliner... which was hanging down. They sprayed the inside of the headliner board with some sort of coating after they got the headliner back in, then braced it up in place with a long wide piece of dense foam, a piece of hard cardboard under that, held up with a piece of the cardboard tube that the fabric comes on... I had to leave it in place for 48 hours, until the coating dried. So today I got to take it down. It was funny, because it made the car look like it had a cage in it, when you looked in the back window... ALOT of people would start tailgating me, then back way off.... quite funny.
Also on Monday, I finnally went to the locksmith shop that worked on my 84 when the column broke inside... The ignition lock in my 91 would turn on with out a key in it.. and it would also let the key be removed when the car was running. He told me that something inside was jacked up, and eventually it would frreeze the lock, and would have to be drilled out... So it was a good theing I got it replaced. The great thing was, he had a Police Package replacement ignition lock for the car. (the key is different, it is the same as a trunk lock... The offfset on the policecar ones are beckawards from the regular keys... ) It was the last Ford replacement one he had... He is going to try to order me another one to have as a spare, before they quit carrying them... (I'll put in my parts bin!) So now the only problem is, I'll jump in the car to start the car, forget I need a key now, and it won't turn, and have to dig my keys out of my pocket! At least no one can steal it now!
