    Box Dash Pads

I noticed my 79 LTD S Coupe dash pad looks identical to my 87 Crown Victoria pad. Are they all the same in Ford LTD/ Crown Victoria from 79-87/89? If so, I am also wondering who is producing a correct interior trim paint which would work well for this application...

they are all the same up until 87, I believe. That's why they had the middle speaker hole long after single speaker radios were cut.

85 4 door 351 Civi Crown Victoria - Summer daily driver, sleeper in the making, and wildly inappropriate autocross machine
160KMs 600cfm holley, shorty headers, 2.5" catted exhaust, 255/295 tires, cop shocks, cop swaybars, underdrive pulley, 2.73L gears.
waiting for install: 3.27's, Poly bushings, boxed rear arms, 2500 stall converter, ported e7's, etc

79-86 had the dash speaker grille made into the dash... 87-89 did not... the dashes will interchange between 79-89, just difference in the center speaker grille stuff....

Grand Marquis dash pads are the same as the Crown Vics.

The middle grille was actually for the amp on the older boxes with premium sound setup. They moved the amp to the trunk but kept using what pads they had left on the newer models.

This turned into a wealth of knowledge real quick lol. I have also encountered a single speaker in the dash dedicated to CB/ police radio in older police cars. Don't know if they were aftermarket or OEM. Thanks for the input guys, anyone have luck with a specific trim paint which would work for an application such as this?

My dad used SEM stuff to do trim peices in his truck prob 15 years ago by now. The truck is still sitting in the backyard with no sun protection or cover and the stuff hasn't peeled. It's hard to say whether its faded due to it being a light grey color but I think it worked out well. I do know it's important to use the adheasion promoter, or primer before doing the color though. SEM lists a Shadow Blue which I gues is supposed to be my interior color, so they may very well make something for your car.

The exact SEM match would be GLOSS MIDNIGHT BLUE #15433. It has been discontinued, but I found a couple places that still have a few cans. One can will be enough to do a dashpad. It took me six cans to do all the trim for my car (dash, dashpad, door panels, armrests, all plastic trim). It is very easy to use and looks great. It says "GLOSS" on the can, but it really is more of a satin finish and looks just like new vinyl would look.

Really Really good info, that's exactly what the interior color is called. The sheet I got from Ford has another name as well, the brochure definitely says Midnight Blue. Thanks for the sharing.

Could you look on the sheet you got from the Ford dealer and see what the name of my beautiful green interior is?

I checked my 1986 brochure and I don't see a Green (perhaps a Ford color). The interior colors available that year as as follows:

                            Smoke
                            Canyon Red
                            Midnight Blue
                            Sand Beige
                            Clove Brown

I can check around and see if I can find out the color's name. Perhaps someone on here has a Crown Victoria/Country Squire Brochure?
