    Cleaning interior trim and panels?

I used water and soap the other day to clean my interior trim and it came out okay. Does anyone know of a secret remedy or good product to use to really freshen up the interior trims? Maybe some type of additive in the water can act as an abrasive to gently scrub the panels more?

Go to the grocery store or Target and buy some Mr. Clean Magic Erasers, from the household cleaning section. They're small-cell foam sponges impregnated with some kind of cleaner. You just wet them and rub them on the vinyl etc. Toss them when they get wrinkled up and shrunk.

    You will be amazed.

I am a little afraid using that. I know they work really really well, i just dont want it to work too well and end up screwed with extremely faded panels.

I just always used foam carpet cleaner and a rag or toothbrush for the nooks and crannies. The foam action works great to lift the dirt....

I've used a product called Tough Stuff along with a soft brush on carpet and vinyl. I follow it with a vacuum on cloth, but it just wipes off vinyl. Works probably about the same as the foamy carpet cleaner. It got the nasty yellow smoker stains out of most of my interior.

My Mustang resto boss had me use plain old Simple Green and a moderately stiff brush to clean anything that could safely be immersed. Usually had me do several scrubbings to get every bit of gunk off.

Cool. Sounds like it did its job then. I actually have FORD Carpet cleaner that i just took out of the packaging the other week. I used it to clean the carpet of mt door panels and it worked well. It was a powdery white (little damp) substance that you brush into spots leave for 20 minutes and vacuum off. That product was over 20 years old. dad held onto it for a long time.

I used to detail for Porsche and I discovered a really nice product for this kind of cleaning. It's a little hard to find sometimes if you don't have access to an automotive supply company, but the line is called Technician's Choice and the aerosol foam cleaner is called Workhorse Cleaner. Spray it on thick and scrub it in with a medium-duty short brissled brush (like what you'd use for carpet & upholstery spot cleaning). Then, just wipe it off with a very warm moistened towel. It will remove anything from chewing gum residue to ground in grease. After the surface is dry, wipe it down with Meguiar's Rubber & Viynl Enhancer. There is not a thing better to shine and protect interior panels, soft-tops, tires, you name it. This cleaning/dressing proccess also works flawlessly on dirty, faded soft-tops. Try it out!
