Does anyone know if you can get a plastic dash cap to fit an '89 Grand Marquis GS? My pad is cracked, just looking for a quick and easy way to make it look a little better. Thanks.

Yes finding the jy dash pad will be a hell of a lot cheaper, but if the price of the previous item scared you take a look at this. It is a carpet dash cover. The fit is not bad and i use it in my CV.

My car has a dash cap my Dad put on in the 90's when the dash started cracking. It fits right over and you really can't tell it's covered. The problem with mine now is the dash pad began to warp enough, especially by the VIN, that it started deforming and cracking the cover. If I found a decent pad, with a few cracks or wrong color I'd probably get it covered and just paint the little you'd see underneath. Nice dashes are harder and harder to com by so you have to make due.sigpic

I think a good strategy is once a good dash pad is found then it is wise to get the "cover me up" plastic cap and then also put the carpet "cover me up" over that to protect the real deal underneath from the sun. Then take the cover ups off on rare occassions.
I saw a nice blue dash for 88-89 at pick n pull that just had a small crack that was not on the speaker or sensor parts and then a speaker part collapsed due to the wobble while I was carrying it. I never seem to find the color I want but it's a shame to see a good one that is a different color, uncracked that someone else might want so if I ever see one that is a different color, I always am tempted to buy it.

I'd settle for a pad that's not terribly warped or cracked to much, and then just cover that with a cap. If the color isn't right, you can have it dyed at a shop or use that VHT trim and vinyl paint.sigpic
