one of the problems of fitting the entire digi cluster is the fact that it is so huge, sitting out and angled down more than mine.
from looking at it, the readout can be separated from the odometer/speedo cable reciever and re-positioned as the short wires from the cable gryro thing to the circuit board allow.
all of its electrical connections are made through these 5 posts. These can be removed and the big plastic bracket trimmed down, hopefully allowing more flexibility with the readout face

WHOA!!! I got a little dremel happy last night.
Tonight I worked at little more on it, as you see it in the last pic. hhhmmmm. I decided to stop and brain storm some more...
Set up like it is in the pic... you could not see the odometer unless I cut a notch out of the dash.
Also, as you can see the digital display isnt exactly centered, and the odometer is the main thing in the way.
BYE BYE odometer!!! Im getting rid of it. Whats it good for anyway?? its just numbers... I plan to hook up a tripminder just for its odometer function. Thats good enough for me!
Once I get rid of this, with some trimming of the gear selector and the fuel gauge dial, I just may be able to get it to sit low enough to get the whole cluster face over it, and not have to cut it!!!
If I can get it all under there I'll then tint the whole clear face really dark, leaving out spots to see the fuel guage and gear indicator. (thanks Epi for the idea)
Another cool thing I can do with it like this is remove the lenses for the idiot lights and turn signals, and replace the bulbs with colored LED replacements. With no inner layer to the speedo and the dark thint, this should make the whole half of the cluster light up when the blinker or warning lamp comes on.
This also means Id have to wait for bulbs!!! I think I need to slow the pace of this project anyway... haste makes waste!!!! Maybe i can get some 2nd day shipping on Ebay... hhhmmmPete ::::>>> resident LED addict and CFI defector LED bulb replacements

You removing the whole odo assembly or just the trip odo? Here in NJ you fail inspection if the odometer is missing/broken. My grandma's Skylark odo says "error" for some reason and we have to pay someone to get it through.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).
