    replacing a cv dash pad?

so I'm finally getting a new dashboard that matches my car. the bottom is great, which I needed. however, the top is all split.

    like this: click here!

can I replace the split part with my old good dash pad?

    if so, how?

    halp.

You can buy a cover on ebay, carpet or velour.

Lots of super glue and support in the back of it. If it were me, I would wait to find one with a good top and bottom.

you could fiberglass/bondo the top part of the spare one you have and paint it to match... or get a cover.

I suppose you could "clip" them, but it would take some doing. You'd probably have to mount them as seperate pieces, which might mean new mounts alltogether, and then getting the alignment right. Not a fun time. How'd the lower portion get fucked up like that?

What you really need to do is find a totally mint one, like the one in my car .

Or find a Town Car where it's two pieces.

it's been three years. there are no mint red ones anywhere. seriously.

                        ALSO,

yes, the gnome came from a geocache. you know of them?

Patience is a virtue; a mint red one does exist, as I have owned it (in a 1990 P72 I used to have for parts; it is now being DD'd by a local kid). There is no point in taking it all apart, making a hacked up mess and reinstalling it, just to be disappointed. Wait it out, and do it the right way. There is no point in doing things twice, or doing them wrong; believe me, I have experience with doing things the wrong way.

Since you like to use caps, and yell at everyone... HEED MY ADVICE!!!!!!

I know of the geocache...never participated in one though. Always wanted to.
