    Door panel cleaning

Something about my skin leaves a thick black buildup on everything I touch often and its a pain to get off. My seats, door panels and steering wheel (leather wheel) are all getting disgusting.

What should I use to clean this off with.

    Thanks

some vinyl cleaner/protector will get the black off the wheel with some scrubbing - use that on any vinyl and some carpet foam and a scrub brush on cloth surfaces.
When i got the 85 I was suprized how much black came off with some hard finger scrubbing.

Lysol 4-in-1 with warm water in bucket and a cheap microfiber rag from BJ's/Sam's Club/ect. is good for all the vinyl & plastic trim. This gets all the grime off nicely and doesn't dry out or harm them. After I do this I usually use Blackfire Interior Protectant, but anything similar like 303 should work fine. The seats should probably be shampooed if you have, can rent, or borrow a machine to do this. If you do you can also follow up with a wet/dry shop vac to help pick up the extra water. Carpet shampooers usually have horrible pickup and leave the fabric wet forever only to dry stiff and nasty. Using the wet/dry shop vac helps remove more dirt and cuts dry time in half. If you want to do touch ups or can't get a shampooer, Tough Stuff carpet cleaner in a can always worked well for me. You can always Scotch Guard after you clean if you like. For the leather wheel, make sure you don't use water or solvent on it. Lexol is the best things I've ever used for leather, I have that Blackfire Cleaner and Protectant that works well also.

I used tide laundry deturgent, a washcloth and a bucket of warm water to clean everything. I cleaned my carpet too with tide, my mats, my seats my door panels, and my steering wheel as well.

I used formula 409 on my car but most of the original interior stuff was far gone already. I've used ToughStuff foaming cleaner before with good success too.

Might want to get one of those tyvek full body suits to wear when you get in the car to protect it from you

Thanks for all the chemicals. Anybody got a kevlar suit laying around.....

Just getting ready for spring cleaning, still a little too early here, right now is the windy season and in a couple weeks is the rain and then we can get the car cleaned up for summer touring.

Anytime. I'm not a fan of seat covers and stuff, but I was doing something in the car the other day and used of of those Jersey Knit/t-shirt material flat bed sheets to cover & protect the seat while I was working on the car and it fit pretty nicely (color was close to). I kept it on there for a few days and it worked out alright. You just take it off the seat, shake it out, or wash it.
