Remind me what year your car is? It'll be easy to just use a wire tap or something to get that working. I'll have a quick look at mine later and see which wire on the round underhood plug goes to the brights.

you'd have to leave the column switch in low, otherwise the foot switch would have no function. it would also keep the low beams lit all the time, probably not good for the stock light switch or the wiring due to the extra current load. I'd strongly suggest a relay harness to get the load off the system if you do this. Actually I suggest a relay harness anyway, just because it will save your 20 year old wiring and switches from burning out as well as improve the headlight brightness.

      stock headlamp dimmer wiring:

power comes in on the red/yellow
output to high is light green/pink
      output to low is red/black

simply tap into those 3 wires and you should have foot control. It would be better if you disconnected the red/yellow from the MF switch so that its disabled. Its not absolutely necessary though.

Why not just cut the wire going to the multifunction switch and send it to the foot switch instead? That'd be by far the simplest solution.
