    CEILING IS DETACHING

Does anyone now an easy and pro way to glue parts of the ceiling that are starting to detach?

Pull the headliner board out, and spray some spray adhesive (I am a big fan of 3M Super 77) on the areas that are falling and lay the fabric down while smoothing out with a very short 2x4 and then weigh it down with books or something of that sort and let it sit for a day.

after that you should be good to go, at least for a while.

ya, the easy part is the regluing, the hard part is taking the headliner out, witch means you gadda take all the trim out that holds it in, and dont break it or crease it when taking it out from the car.

time to redo the liner. basically its just a matter of gluing new cloth on. The old will be too stretched out to re-use. If you try to glue just spots, it will wrinkle and look crappy. The cloth is fairly cheap from what I understand. There is also a spray glue specifically designed for headliners and trim. I think the 3m stuff is suitable for this.

getting the thing out is fun. The shop manual says to sit in the back, lay the front seats down, and pull down and back on the headliner above the windshield. Basically make the thing into a big roll and pull it out through the back door.

You don't have to roll it! Recline both seats, it will slide out either front door with a little maneuvering, folding up the sides a little. It's not hard at all.

And take the rear view mirror off before you take off the trim above the windshield. It comes out quick and snapped the mirror and post right off my windshield.

Super easy with a wagon, just slide it out the tailgate.

With the glue, I highly recommend spraying both the fabric and headliner with at least two coats.

I cheaped out on the rear and it is currently in my basement waiting to be reattached..

Yea, I know and I've been taking that car apart since 11 or 12. It just comes out quick and I had a simple moment. Mind you this was off the 4 yr old windshield which luckily didn't break, though its already got a crack from stone on the highway.

i like the blue flame fabric Jeremy has for a headliner he harvested.
