    seatbelts

i got a ticket 2 weeks ago for no seatbelts in the back...when i got the car there was only one lap belt in the center...im not sure if the car was even made with them...i got it frum my grandparents and i dought they took them out...are they missin or were they never there?

No, they had to have been there from the factory. Pretty sure it'd be illegal for them to sell a car that was missing seat belts. Are you sure they're actually missing, though, or did they just fall down underneath the seat?

easiest way to see if seatbelts are missing are by removing lower section of backseat by pressing back on it and lifting on both sides of it, or by pushing your hand between where back seat meets and finding them that way. think it would be easy enough to pull lower section that way you can get whatever change ans stuff was dropped under it from people riding in the back.

In a box Panther, yes. My Dad has had older cars without belts from the factory, most recently a '62 Impala. It had front seat belts, but no rear belts; it came like that from the factory. My Dad said it was common years ago.

Well yeah, cars weren't required to come with seat belts until 1964 (IIRC). They were an option before that ('56 Fords were the first to be offered with 'em).

I had a feeling you'd already know about that.

I recall something about my '89 having a different belt setup than an LX or GMQ. I think it has one less.

should have 2 retracting lap belts in the back and one adjustable lap belt in the middle. Usually they fall back under the seat or the plastic around the retractor cracks and the buckle sucks back inside far enough that its not really visible. Feel around in the crack between the back and bottom, you'll probably be able to dig them out.

Meh, just grab the front edge of the seat's bottom cushion and yank it up and bakwards, then pull it out - belts should be right there, under where the bottom and back cushions meet. By the way, what kind of BS is having a ticked issued for not having rear seat belts - was there someone in the back seat? That's like me getting a ticket for cutting off the middle front belt that I don't need cause I got buckets - ain't happening, simply ain't happening. What DOT-nazi state do you live in anyways?

Yeah, bottom section of rear seat is VERY easy to remove. Takes less than 5 min to remove and reinstall it. I have had mine out literally over 20 times. When I vacuum I take it out, makes it a bit easier to move about inside the car. When doing stuff like that. Plus I sound deadened that area.

I know i just needed one pic, but I thought I would post them all because I know people would probably question what I did if they seen the last pic or the factory deadener up. Anyway do you see how the clip looks, you just push the seat forward (towards rear of car) and then push up.
