You do know that they just badged that name onto a version of the midsize fairmont,right....
This car,the LTD-S or "LTD Landau" was the same from 79-87,only exterior fascia items, and engine combos changed during those years.Everything else is the same.
The "Crown Victoria LX" part of this car is only a trim package.Last edited by LTDMan83; 11-13-2007, 01:01 AM.

Yes, I know that. Its a mid-size Fox car, not a full size Panther. The badge still isn't correct for the car.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

The badge came from a 85 LTD CVPI,installed by Ford,at the Ford Assembly Plant.
Yes, he does have a LTD Crown Vic, But If he were to remove said CV Exterior Trim parts,(Roof Crown Trim etc...)He no longer has a LTD Crown Vic,he has a LTD-S.Go look at a Pic of the 79 LTD Landau Sedan, notice the difference?;only the Trim,Front bumper,Grille, and Taillamp Lenses are different. These are the only 4 things that make the 82-87 Box LTD Crown Vic different, from the 79-81 LTD-S.
This car was referred to by FoMoCo Themselves as the "LTD Crown Victoria" up until 91, not Crown Victoria LTD,or just Crown Victoria. That didn't happen until 92 when the Crown Vic Became it's own car,and not just a trim package added on to the Fullsize LTD.
It doesn't really matter to me what people wanna call it though.Allmost everyone I know calls it "The Vic",My Dad calls it,and all these cars "The Turd(s)" The average public pedestrian that see it calls it "The Hoopty" Translation:Big,Ugly,Slow Ass Car.I refer to mine as the LTD Vic,because it still has the CV Roof Trim which I do like, and am gonna keep.I have a dash emblem from a 71 LTD in my 87,which definitely isn't correct for the car,but I like the look, and really could care less about keeping things stock.Last edited by LTDMan83; 11-14-2007, 01:30 AM.

See my friend Joseph had a '79 LTD wagon, the fullsize aka Country Squire, and it had that emblem on the dash.
And with the whole theme that I'm shooting for, I want my car to resemble one of the older models. Therefore I decided to put the LTD emblem on the dash. And the emblem came off LTDman's panther.
And if you look at my first few photos I took, you can see the outline on the dash is the same size as the LTD emblem. That was underneath the LTD Crown Victoria emblem (which was longer). This shows that they made the dashes for the LTD emblem, but since the LTD Crown Victoria emblem was longer, it was no problem to install it in that slot. No one was going to take that emblem off their new granny car anyway. So that badge is off of that era of the panthers, not the smaller models.
Like previously noted, that was the only emblem left on the entire car that still said "Crown Victoria" on there, so I wanted it off.
This photo also shows the "LTD" emblem on the econo-LTD's, this picture is off of an '86. You can see the emblem above the glovebox.
