    Recommnded Shops? Leather Seats

Just wondering. Any place you recommend that sells new leather covers for '86 Town Car (Front Seats only)?

My seats are not ripped or anything - but 20+ years of bums on seats makes them look old.

I don't believe such a thing exists. You'd have to look up an upolstery shop and have them recovered with something else.

you just have to be willing to spend $1100.
your other option is an automotive upholstery shop, which will probably be even more.

Well ... when I was in Bali last week (where daily wages are $5), found an excellent Car Interiors shop. Think 'Pimp my Ride', West Coast Customs on MTV.

When I asked them if they can make new leather seats, they ripped out samples for all types of cars (Mercedes, Jaguar, ...). Then I showed them photos of my pillow-top seats. Did not bat an eyelid. Yep - we can do that. (The Balinese are EXCELLENT at hand crafts). I asked for the price of 2 x seats only (the part your bum is on ... not the backs). Written quote for US$480 for the pair of seats.

I am thinking of taking off one seat cover and taking with me on my next trip there (it is close to where I live and cheap to get to) and see what sort of a copy they can make.

Of course - I am sure the final price will be higher than the estimate (With a smile on their face as they hand me the bill) but that is life.

            Hmmm....decisions - decisions.

Does that price include them installing it on the seat for you?

No - I am not taking the car or seats to Bali. But the workshop manual says it is easy to take off and replace the covers.

you don't NEED hogring pliers, they just help.

Depending on condition, a redye might work for you. It'd be a bit less expensive.
