    2001 CV Headliner Removal

My dad needs to fix an antenna hole in the roof of his '01 (they just removed the antenna and left the hole there without even a body plug in it!), and he asked me if I could ask you guys about getting the headliner down. Is there any way to get it completely out of the car without bending it in half (and presumably kinking it)? Or does he just have to pull it down, leave it sitting on top of the seats, and work around it?

    Thanks guys!

It can be pulled out in one piece. Just takes some finegaling (sp?) to do it.

My dad said it can't be done without taking the windshield out. I think he might be full of shit though. I know it was really easy to pull out of his car (and put back in) when we had the front and rear windows out. Probably a pain in the ass to do, but definitely possible.

Yeah, well I'm thinking that's how they put 'em in at the factory...the glass is probably the last thing to go in, not only for ease of assembly but also to minimize the possibility of breakage.

I didn't do it, but my dad did get the head liner out without creasing it and without removing any doors or seats.

Actually, seat removal might help. Its not difficult either, if you don't snap the seat bolts!

You should be able to get it out. Probably have to change the seat adjustments so the seat backs arent up.

Recline the front seats back and slide it out thru either side. It ain't hard at all.

I've done it on my car. I sat in the back, and pulled the front down towards me and made a big roll of the thing, it came out through the back doors. Thats how the shop manual says to do it, but you can pull it out the front too, doesn't really matter. Just move the seats around to get them out of the way and take your time.

And rolling it up won't make creases and such in it?

No need to roll the damn thing. It comes out without bending it.
