    new LED dome light

whats up guys, been working on this one for a while, havent got any pics of it in the car yet, but it is really bright at night. i took a piece of black abs plastic heated it and bent it then put 36 white inverted 5mm LEDs in it, then i cut a piece of plexi from a computer window kit and heated it and bent it over top of it, i used velcro to hold the plexi up and it works pretty good, i think it deffinatly looks alot better than the "yellow" dome light here are some pics. o yea i havent taken any pics yet but i took my cluster apart and took really fine sand paper and sanded that blue stuff of and put those white inverted 194 bulbs behind it so that my cluster lights up white to.

seems a lil overkill for the dome light...i would rather have blue. i dont wanna blind myself at nite...plus blue is easier on the eyes if you run them at nite while driving.

I understand this, but I personally diagree. I like the bright white light. Not really a fan of the blue, although it is easier on the eyes.

      Nice job.

Blue for ever!!!!! The lighting is shit in the car. The stock dome light hardly lights up anything at night. When you're looking for something. Need lights in the back.

thanks for the copliments, it is bright but it is not hard on the eyes, i havent ever driven with my dome lights on but i did it just to see how bad it might be and it is really not that bad, i get some bad glare from the side windows but i think that is because of the window tint, i also have white led's in the map lights so it only luminates a small circle in my lap or in the lap of the passenger, i agree with needing more lights in the back but the way that i bent the plastic it lights up every thing really nice, i just took some pics, my camera doesnt do good night shots or low light shots so it doesnt look as bright as it actually is, if i had to guess i would say that it is almost twice as bright as my camera shows it, but here is a pic of the inside and of my cluster where i sanded it to be white.
nothing against blue, but the white is more natural, and i like it alot more, i have blue led's for my alarm.

I love things that are ridiculously bright. I used white 194's with the stock cluster color and it looked great, until the whites started failing. I am currently running blues in my cluster, and a 194 style BIG ASS 9 led in my dome, but I like your idea better. I have 200 white LED's waiting to be soldered into something, maybe I will use your idea for inspiration. NICE!

I want to do that too, but w/ white LEDs. Also want LED strips under the dash. I will never loose anything at night :p

I don't have a dome light Need to figure out a way to mount mine back on, this time without shorting out anything... I envision another passenger-side interior panel removal soon
