Nope, thats the sound deadener, The jute is attached with an adhesive to the underside of the carpet. When Por15'd my floorpan it took 2 weeks to get that sound deadener off using a heat gun, Varsol, a putty knife, razor blades, and gasoline. Lots of rust hides under them at times.

Jute is the fluffy, mushy, padding that looks like its made from scraps of old threads, etc. I had no trouble pulling the carpet out of mine, except it was glued in, which was kind of a pain. The mass backing was no issue though.**2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302: 5.0/ 6 spd/ 3.73s, 20K Cruiser

if you can remove the belts, you can cut the carpet to go around the bolts when you install it, just make sure you cut the carpet in a manner which it wont get anywear and tear on it. You can tape the two halves back together after you wrap it aroundhttp://secondhandracing.com/Home.aspx

I really don't know whether it'd be likely to be different or not, but doesn't the carpet go all the way from the firewall to the back end of the wayback?

ah. No, it just goes to the base of the back seat. The way-back has a separate piece that tends to slide around and scrunch up under regular use and get seriously distended when parental units run them through the washing machine.2012 Mazda5 Touring | Finally working on the LTD again!

Oh, okay. Well, if it ends under the bottom of the rear seat, then it's probably the same as sedan/coupe carpet. Sorry, didn't mean to get you worked up. lol
