    Police Bucket Side Trim Panels

I recently bought a pair of police buckets for my car. They are the full cloth version as opposed to the cloth and vinyl style offered in later cars. They do not have the side trim panels with them. It appears that the Taurus (or even Thunderbird) outer side trim panels are the same as used on these seats. My question is in regards to the inner trim panels. Do the Taurus buckets have an inner trim panel? All of the pictures of Taurus bucket seat cars have the console so obviously you can't see if it is there or not. I would assume that they might work. Or if anyone else has any suggestions for a source for these trim panels.

Does it cover the track on the side or something? Usually there isn't one of those on the inside, just the outside where it's visible.

Here are a couple of pics from the same style seats that I bought showing the trim pieces.

Pretty nifty, Kev. Too bad I don't know much about the trim pieces, unless you want to try to make your own. Just out of curiosity, where'd you get your cop buckets?

Got them on ebay. I'm pretty sure they are from that 2 Blue Merks guy on CVN, but he never actually signs his e-mails so it's hard to say for sure. Took a lot of looking until they finally popped up.

In case anyone is wondering, no you cannot take the seat tracks from a split bench seat from a '91 and put them directly onto the bucket seats from a '92. The seats I got were just the seat pan and backs with recliner mechs. I took the passenger side seat out last night and took the tracks off. They don't bolt up to the bucket seat pans. They are close, but no cigar. The towel bar is about 1-2" too wide and the mounting holes don't line up. Even if the tracks did fit there still aren't any mounting provisions for the recliners. Looking at some sources online it appears that the 90-91 tracks are indeed different from the 92-94 tracks. Not sure if even the 92-94 split bench tracks will work. Minor setback for now.

OK, My 91 has a set of Police buckets from a 92 or 93 Police Package car... IF you are installing them in a 90 or 91.. they will bolt right in.. no mods at all... the floor pans from 1990 to 1994 are all the same... so no seat tracks swapping is needed... They will bolt right in...

                  Before...

                  After...

Also you can see the side panels.. and yes, the Taurus seats should have them...

Also--- The Ford Taurus seats from 1990 to at least 1993 are the same exact seat... just different seat foam inserts... (The cop seats are stiffer)

I was assuming Kev had original power seat rails that he wanted to keep. I'd really like to be able to do the same thing - the extra adjustability is really nice.

That's very useful information, I'll be keeping that in mind. I don't suppose you know similar things about the pre-'88 cop buckets? I was pretty impressed with torquelover's when I drove his '87 P72 - I was shocked that there's no recline on them, but they were pretty comfortable anyway and were small enough that the cabin felt much more spacious than I'm accustomed to.

Tom, I was actually looking at your site last night to see what seats you put in your car. Anyway, the bucket seats that I bought didn't have the tracks on them. Thus my dilemma. So I need to find some tracks that are compatible with the bucket seats. I'll have to keep my eyes open for Tauri for those trim panels. Thanks for the tip.
