OK, so you get power from body to plug. What about across the 2 wires in the plug? If you get nothing there, the ground wiring for the window switch is bad. If you do get power, the motor is bad.

Today I'm going to try running my own power line directly from the battery to the switch and my own ground directly to the switch. If that works (God willing), I may just wire it in permanently like that (with a fuse). I hope it does, I'm tired of fooling with this fucking thing... I want to get on with the other repairs this car's waiting for.Last edited by CheeseSteakJim; 07-19-2007, 09:55 AM.

I had to have my battery charged up because I killed it by trying to get the windows working for so long without the car on. First, I tested the new motor and it checked out fine. Then I installed it, and hotwired the motor again by hooking a line to from the + battery terminal and the other line to the - terminal. There was a loud bang which I would assume was the gear pushing itself into alignment with the teeth on the window arm. After that it rolled the windows down without a problem. I switched the wires and it rolled itself right back up.
Then I plugged it in and hotwired it through the plug for the master switch using the same method.. Again, the windows went up and down fine. Then I supplied the switch itself with a new ground and a line directly to the + battery terminal. When I flicked the switch down the window went down, when I pushed it up it went up. Then I actually put the battery into the car, plugged everything in how it should be, and lo and behold, the windows worked. I must've tweaked something just right, or something. Go figure...
I wish I had known it would fix itself like that... would've done it two months ago...
All my other windows also work fine now, except for my passenger front. I can only assume that that's also a window motor. I'll get to that later... not like I'm ever in the passenger seat anyway.Last edited by CheeseSteakJim; 07-22-2007, 03:27 PM.
